Flankertraining.com has a long history. The site owner, Richard Sorochak "IRONAND" started the site highlighting bugs in the Surface to air missile systems in Flanker 2.5 which is a simulation published by SSi Mindscape. IRONHAND soon ventured into new areas by constructing professional tutorials with voice-overs for the community. IRONHAND's tutorials were an instant hit. His tutorials focused on IMPORTANT tactical operations. 
Meanwhile around 1997, SSi and mindscape were liquidated, but FLanker's developer Eagle Dynamics found a new publisher after a drought period. This was glorious news as the best developers for air combat simulation were back in business. The new publisher was the french GIANT, UBISOFT. They produced a new combat simulation that is true to its roots. This was the sim named Lock on: Modern Air Combat. IRONHAND continued to provide his excellent services to the communtiy for this new sim.
Being a niche genre, UBISOFT neglected and gave up on Lock on. However Eagle Dynamics, the developers are still running strong and continue to provide marvels to the world with their outstanding AFM in their new addon LOCK ON: FLAMING CLIFFS. 
With the new freedom, Eagle make their own choices to release their high quality products. This is where they notice the premium work from various community members. Ironhand is finally offered an opportunity to make official tutorials for LOCK ON: FLAMING CLIFFS.
