Where the hell is my reel to reel.
Actually, from what I hear, and I'm a dummy with such stuff, it could be taken to a GOOD camera place and put on a DVD. It would come out similar quality to "Classic TOMCAT" films DVD with the likes of No Points for 2nd Place / ACEVAL AIMVAL. But, THAT'S GOOOOOD STUFF"
But, then again, it's Hoser's History so it's his to do, or not to do with, as he sees fit.
Cheers

BTW- The orginal film don't get destroyed in that process. And, it will last longer than the DVD will. Over the frickin' next 200 or so years.
As I remember, there are only 9 frames in a row that are on the Eagle's kill zone.... this guy was moving the F-15 with such violence, it was difficult to get a tracking half second burst. Hill Billy was yelling, "shooot him, shooot him!!!" D-Hose sez, cain't steady the piper on him yet....... then when he had to be predictable to keep from smacking the desert....... Guns! (~350') In the debrief, the hud TV/TVSU Beta tape was played......his reply,, "how in the f--k did you track me through that?" Unlike the no s--t 16mm gun film, the TVSU tracks the most significant contrast and the TVSU piper very slowly moved from his after burners to his white helmet and back. Of course the 16 mm gun film was sent to Grumman for processing cause the Airfarce photo lab would have confiscated it. Well, this guy being a very fine Eagle driver, 4 days later, D-Hose explains to him that what he saw was NOT the gun sight piper.Etc..... However, he would be a movie star!!!!~ The Beta tape was a thing of beauty,, all ICS/UHF com with crystal clear black and white.. Lt. Dick Grey, (U-Dog) had the Beta tape, was killed in a spin test at Edwards 2 yrs. later. Even though Turk, Fearless and D-Hose made a effort,,, the tape was not recovered. VR D-Hose PS: Love to have the 16 mm film copied if not too big a hassle. Yes,,,, D-Hose remembers the F-15 pilot's name but out of great respect for his prestigious demonstration of fighter pilot ability, "It is Classified". |
